Tulle Skirt

Skirt Forever 21 (about 2 years old)/Top and Jewelry Nordstrom/ Shoes Target

*Sorry, I couldn't resist posting this picture of Dexter with his Fall/Winter coat blowing in the breeze

Thank you all so much for the kind words. It really means a lot to me that you a) enjoy my blog and b) took the time to share your thought. After taking some time to think it over I have decided to continue to post; however, on a less frequent/regular basis. I think the pressure of posting four to five times a week was a little much for me to manage. I will try to update a couple of times a week, but no promises.

We spent the week/weekend enjoying the company of one of our nephews and my aunt. We had sleepovers, visited the reptile museum (not ever going there again), and headed to Santa Cruz boardwalk for some rides and lunch/dinner on the water. I love when family visits, but it makes it that much harder when they leave. At least I know that I will be seeing them again soon!

Floral

Dress Target/Clutch UO/Shoes DV Dolce Vita/ Belt F21

I wore this cozy dress over the weekend to breakfast with my family. This dress is quite old, but I never get tired of the print. On another note, I made a meatloaf last night that had a ton of vegetables in it. It actually turned out better than I had expected...my husband even requested that I make it again.

My Fourth of July outfit: Skirt Express/Shirt Marshalls/Shoes Target/ Necklaces Express and Old

Nick and I spent a long weekend in South Lake Tahoe, celebrating his sister's birthday and the 4th of July. The beautiful scenery provided a great opportunity for us to try out the new camera. This was our first day of photos and you will see the quality continue to improve as the week goes on. A special thank you to Nate, who gave Nick a crash course in photography and helped make adjustments to the camera.  I can't wait for you to see the rest of the photos!

Summer Skirt

Skirt Target/ Top BB Dakota (last seen here)/Wedges Steve Madden

Happy fourth of July!

I wore this outfit on one of our lovely 102 degree days to run errands. If I haven't already mentioned it, one of my favorite things about summer is getting to have lunch with my husband. We work too far apart to ever meet for lunch while I am working. After lunch I went to visit my grandma, who is doing well after falling and cracking her hip. Finally, I headed over to a consult appointment for my wisdom teeth : (

Nick and I have a new addition to our family. I will be sharing the details on Monday's post! Have a great weekend!

Striped Shirt and a Hard Lesson

Shirt JCrew/ Shorts Loft/ Sandals Target/ Bag Marc by Marc Jacobs

This shirt has helped to teach me an important lesson....but it all started with the first couple of weeks of beginning my blog. I was doing some "research" on how to maintain a successful personal style blog (which really means looking at the FAQ lists of extremely popular blogs). Most all of them had a common theme when responding to the question, "What are your suggestions for having a successful blog?" The answer always being something along the lines of "be yourself." I found this to be kind of annoying, since OBVIOUSLY you would be yourself....it's your PERSONAL style blog. Fast forward a couple of weeks.....

I think that I started the blog with the best intentions, really showcasing my personal style. I wasn't seeing an increase in my followers, but I was seeing an increase on other sites of people who dressed very similar to the "popular blogs." At this point I somewhat subconsciously started dressing like the "popular blogs" about 15-20 percent of the time. There are several issues with this and I don't think that I need to state the obvious. So, back to the shirt. I saw this shirt on a couple of different websites and really loved the coloring. It went on sale for a pretty good deal so I scooped it up. After wearing it all day and looking back at pictures I realized that although it may be cute, I was attempting to wear it in a way that wasn't necessarily true to my style. Fast forward to today....

I've realized that I was focusing on the wrong aspects of blogging, instead of just having fun.  I may still have a relapse in my thinking (I am human), but for now I will try to maintain my current state of mind.  I think it is wonderful to gain inspiration from others and if you love the shoes someone is wearing, buy them. But also take the advice of "being yourself." :)

Have a great Tuesday!

Summer Layering

Dress and Top Marshalls/ Sandals Target/ Necklace Amazon

As if you haven't noticed, Dexter loves making cameos on my blog and Nick usually spends more time photographing him than me. The above picture is all the evidence you need.
Have a great weekend!

Polka Dot Shorts/Skort

Shorts Target/ Tank F21/ Shoes BCBGeneration/ Jewelry Express, Nordstrom

This was my Father's day BBQ outfit. My husband was curious as to what kind of bottoms these were and I tried to explain what a skort was without much success. It was awfully windy that day, blowing my "skort" all around. Wish me luck for Bunco tonight!

Summer Romper

Romper Gift from Sis/ Sandals Target/ Jewelry Express, Nordstrom/ Bag Marc by Marc Jacobs

My generous, beautiful sister sent me this romper in the mail when I was having a bad couple of days. How thoughtful is that? I think if I ever read the "Language of Love" book it would say that mine is gifts. I love the colorful print and the silky feel of this romper. I got a little matchy matchy with my accessories, but I just couldn't resist layering on my favorite color.

In other news...we almost one our first softball game. It went to extra innings, which is a huge improvement from our last couple of weeks. I pre-gamed at Panera with my other sis-in-law, enjoying another great lunch!

P.S. I love Lydia from Real Housewives of OC and thought I would try out her jeweled headband look. I am digging' it. Happy Tuesday!

P.P.S. I will be working on a collage for tomorrow, so feel free to send me an item that you want to see featured! :)

Striped Dress + Coral

Jacket F21/ Dress and Shoes Target/ Necklace Nordstrom/ Watch Michael Kors/ Bag TB

So, I have a confession...Whenever a new trend comes out (i.e. peplum, colored denim, etc.) I have a tendency to buy a ton of stuff. Remember when cropped sweaters were all the rage about 7? years back? (guess who has a bin full of them) I am also a bit of a clothes hoarder. When you add up the trend purchasing and hoarding, you're left with a pretty full closet. I have been making a conscious effort to not "over buy" when it comes to a trend. I am proud to say that I have limited myself to a few items. The next couple of sentences are meant to be purely observation, not criticism. There are other blogs that I look at and lately I am finding myself uninterested. I think it might be the overload of "trends." So I apologize if you want to see the latest and greatest everyday, but I think that some days we need to put down the chambray or peplum top, colored skinnies, and statement necklaces (myself included).  Thanks for reading!

Coral Maxi Skirt

Skirt Loft (last seen here)/ Tank Nordstrom/ Belt F21/ Shoes Target/ Bag TB/ Necklace Amazon

I am so amazed at the number of fashion blogs that exist on the web. I am thinking of silly similes to describe just how small and insignificant my little blog is, but none of them are very good so I will keep them to myself. Instead I will repeat the Nemo phrase...just keep blogging, blogging, blogging, oh wait, is that not it? ;) Have a fabulous day!

Peachy

Dress Francescas/ Shoes Target/ Bag TB/ Belt F21/ Bracelets Nordstrom, Francescas, Express/Sweater Target (last picture)

Nick and I have had such a wonderful weekend, reminding me to be so thankful for our fabulous friends and family. We started our three day weekend off with dinner at a restaurant that I have been wanting to try for years, helping celebrate the five year wedding anniversary of our cousin. There may have been vodka cranberries and a haircut involved. On Saturday we attended an army themed birthday party for their two sons. I have never seen so many plastic guns in my life. We ended the evening with a sushi dinner date with my favorite running partner ;) and Aziz Ansari (so hilarious). Sunday we relaxed, picked some cherries, and shared a wonderful meal at our aunt and uncle's house with my mom and her bf. Don't you just love three day weekends?

p.s. If you follow on instagram you will find pictures of several of our outings.
