Can you tell the difference in picture quality? Our computer is up and running and we will now be using an actual camera instead of a phone. I know I am excited!

Pucks and watermelon crawl

I experienced two new things this weekend...a hockey game and a home and garden show! After running 10 miles on Saturday (the half marathon is next weekend, yikes!) I spent the day at the local home and garden show with a friend and her family. After shopping the day away Nick and I headed to my oldest friend's birthday party and did a little line dancing. We continued the birthday celebration with dinner and a hockey game. I am a big fan of sports, having played volleyball in college, and hockey is added to my list of well liked sports. I cant believe it is legal to take gloves off and punch an opposing team member. I only have a few photos to share (Nick and I at the hockey game and some of the group line dancing). I tend to be the person who is having too much fun to stop and remember to photograph the fun that is ensuing. :-) We also got a new computer, so I am hoping to have some higher quality photos for you all soon!

Skirts and cold weather

I love wearing dresses and skirts, but in the winter it can be a bit chilly. Sometimes tights and leggings don't quite do the trick, so I tried covering my legs with boots as well :-) I have been in hibernation mode lately, which results in me getting up late. My hair has been au natural all week thanks to my extra 15-30 minutes of sleep.

Now, I will prove Uncle Gary right once again and continue this post with some complaining...sort of. I have a tendency to hold a grudge, but depending on the person I am not always willing to communicate that they have hurt my feelings and/or pissed me off in the first place. So I end up waiting for some apology that will never come as I stew in my anger. Even as a type this I see how simple the solution is, but sometimes it doesn't feel that easy. What do you all think? Do you suck it up or do you speak up?

Lady like

This is probably as close to a Chanel jacket as I will ever get, but I will gladly settle for bcbg. As mentioned before, I am really loving hot pink right now, I think it must be my attempt to sneak some spring into my wardrobe! Happy Friday.

News flash...

I was inspired to start my blog by a few fabulous ladies on the web. Anna James at fashboulevard.blogspot.com was one of them. I am so excited to say that I was featured on her blog today! Check it out!

Go to

I was talking with a friend the other day about decorating and clothing. Long story short I said my go to outfit is a silky blouse, skinny jeans, and fun shoes. If you saw my closet you wouldn't argue...what is your go to outfit?

Birthday weekend

Here are some photos from my birthday weekend. I had a great couple of days spending time with family and friends...the best part is I still have more birthday plans in the future and a gift coming in the mail from my sis! This is turning into a birthday week(s)! And thank you MLK for having your holiday near my birthday, providing me with a nice three day weekend.

New Year Fashion and Beauty by Anya Sarre

Today's FashionGawker post is brought to you by Anya Sarre. She is one of Hollywood’s most influential trendsetters. A nationally recognized celebrity stylist, Sarre is known for her impeccable eye and ability to tie any look together with the perfect accessory. Named “Best Television Fashion Stylist” for her appearances on Entertainment Tonight, The Insider and countless other media outlets, Sarre is the go-to fashion expert for Hollywood’s biggest celebrities.

Here is what she has to say about fashion and beauty for 2013:

The hottest fashion trends for the New Year focus on looking polished and put-together at all times. This means that young women are putting more effort into their casual wear and office ensembles alike. At first, it may seem overwhelming to have to look noticeably styled on a day-to-day basis, but learning how to piece together mature, clean-cut outfits is a skill that is applicable to all situations.

Stores like Forever 21 and H&M are moving away from teen-oriented florals and soft silhouettes. The current stock in many stores is largely comprised of structured, professional-looking dresses. Sheath dresses are extremely popular right now. They skim the entire length of the torso through the hips and down to the knees. It takes a strong woman to wear sheath dresses without looking out of her element, which is why these dresses have become favorites of women who want to establish themselves at work. The great thing about the rising standards for casual clothing is that one can go from the office to happy hour without having to go home and change first. A sheath dress with a peplum and a funky pattern will always set the wearer apart from her less fashionable peers. Women who do not want to show off all of the contours of their bodies should embrace A-line shirtdresses. Old Navy has produced a great deal of flattering button-down dresses lately. A handmade hairpiece crafted out of feathers and buttons can accent a fun dress. Pinterest and Etsy provide inspiration for DIY accessories.

There has been a drift away from standard black pumps toward ankle boots covered in distinctive buckles and other details. Similarly decorated flats are growing in popularity as well. ShoeDazzle can help shoppers figure out which shoes best complete certain kinds of outfits. Since makeup preferences depend on one's complexion as much as they depend on popular color palettes, shopping for makeup can be frustrating and time consuming. Monthly shipments from Birchbox make it fun and easy to experiment with new cosmetics. Birchbox sample packages allow women to try new makeup combinations in their own homes, away from crowded and harshly lit department stores. MAC's capsule collections are fun primers in whatever is hot at the moment. A quick glance through any of the brand's limited-edition offerings will give an unsure shopper a good idea of where to start in her quest for new makeup.

The year 2013 may very well be defined by exaggerated femininity that is countered with loud quirk.

Below are some of my favorite sheath dresses and ankle boots!

Hot...pink that is!

I am finally feeling better, so today's outfit consists of more than just sweatpants or an equally cozy outfit. Hot pink is one of my new favorite colors to wear. One good thing about being a brunette (among many others of course) is being able to wear pink without looking like barbie. I am really excited about tomorrows post. I have two words for you: Anya Sarre!

Tucked in

Sorry about the lack of a post yesterday. I have been feeling under the weather since Sunday. I was so sick that I actually missed bowling. That pretty much constitutes a crime in my book :-) My husband informed me that you are supposed to wear a belt if you tuck in your shirt. I would have to disagree with him, but I tried it out anyway.

One sweater, two ways

I had a request for showing how I might wear one piece two different ways. It turned more into a day to night look. I like this sweater because it looks plain from the front, but has a fun detail in the back.

My big surprise was lipstick! I bought one for my wedding and really liked how it turned out. Not sure if you can see it in the "night" look or not. I bought a more bold color too, which should be featured soon! I also forgot to grab the bag that I would pair with my evening outfit, shucks! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

Sorry about the picture order. For some reason they get uploaded in random order and it is very frustrating. If anybody knows how to control the order I would love for you to share.
