Rainy day

Rainy days really limit shoe options....I think I need a new pair of boots to help me get through all the puddles :-) Happy Friday!

Pumpkin crazy

I love all things pumpkin, so last night I decided to make some whole wheat pumpkin bread. I had a little bit of pumpkin left in the can and didn't want to be wasteful, so that turned into overnight pumpkin steel cut oats. I also tried my hand at home made minestrone soup.

Here is a quick look at what I am wearing....can you tell my photographer was in a rush this morning :-) we really do need to use a better camera, but that would require us to get a new computer :-(

Dressing for work

Dress codes can be a drag and it always seems like I want to wear the things that I am not allowed to wear. Luckily, there isn't really a dress code at my current job. This may have something to do with the nose picking, sneezing, thumb sucking, coughing without covering, etc. that I come into contact with daily, not mention the fact that I often sit on the floor. It's safe to say that in one week I say each of the following phrases several times: "fingers out of your nose," "fingers out of your mouth," and my favorite "don't eat that! " Assuming that I continue to blog (and that you continue to read) you will begin to see a trend in my clothing choices. Mondays and Wednesdays tend to be more relaxed looks because I work in an autism classroom those days. Here is today's relaxed, rainy day look. Have a great hump day : )

These are a few of my favorite things....

1. Christmas music: I have to resist the urge to start listening to it before November even hits. Darn you 99.3!
2. Soup on a cold day: I received a Sunday soups cookbook at my bridal shower and have been delighted by how well the recipes have turned out. The roasted tomato soup was a hit with the future hubby :-)

I was too lazy to type out the recipe, so see the link below. I doubled the garlic and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

3. Books with witches, vampires, etc. I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan and not ashamed to yell it! I have been reading a series called Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia. I think the first movie is coming out soon.
4. CW tv shows...see number 3 :-) yes, it may appear that I am 13, but I can't help but love the drama, clothing, love triangles.... Nick (my fiancé) says the shows are stupid, but every Thursday he is asking me questions about the happenings on Vampire Diaries.
5. Family: My lovely sister just made me an aunt for the third time! I now have a beautiful baby niece. I can't wait to meet her and until she can wear shoes :-) I miss my two handsome nephews more than anything!
6. Friends: You know who you are (my only readers, lol)! They are all so supportive, genuine, and hilarious!
7. Dexter: You all knew it was coming. It was only a matter of time before his fabulous face made its debut.

8. Last but not least Nicholas, my soon to be husband. My last name will officially be Hyske in 30 days. I hate to be lovey dovey, but I am truly blessed and I cannot wait to marry my best friend!

What are a few of your favorite things?

And finally, here is what I wore today. I got a few laughs today when a couple of preschoolers commented on my tights "I like your pants" and " I like your dots" were my favorite comments. I guess that's what you get from an audience who is eye level with your knees. I won't be expecting any compliments on my necklaces anytime soon.

Polka dots

Happy Monday! It sure was hard to go back to work after having a week off...good thing polka dots make me smile.

I started training for a half marathon 3 weeks ago and my body is already feeling it. I guess I better get out the ice, which I find incredibly uncomfortable :-) My goal is to run the entire race! I will let you know how that goes.

After months of contemplating I finally started a blog. Welcome to my personal fitness, food, and fashion blog! Here is what I wore for Thanksgiving at my fiancé's families house.
