I was cleaning out my closet and found these shorts at the bottom of the pile.  This was one of my go-to looks last summer and I am still diggin' it! On a completely different note, I tried a new fitness class and I am loving it. It is a mix of yoga, pilates, and strength. It is kind of like a fast paced yoga/pilates done to really fun music. It's nice to mix up my routine.

So, I have a confession...Whenever a new trend comes out (i.e. peplum, colored denim, etc.) I have a tendency to buy a ton of stuff. Remember when cropped sweaters were all the rage about 7? years back? (guess who has a bin full of them) I am also a bit of a clothes hoarder. When you add up the trend purchasing and hoarding, you're left with a pretty full closet. I have been making a conscious effort to not "over buy" when it comes to a trend. I am proud to say that I have limited myself to a few items. The next couple of sentences are meant to be purely observation, not criticism. There are other blogs that I look at and lately I am finding myself uninterested. I think it might be the overload of "trends." So I apologize if you want to see the latest and greatest everyday, but I think that some days we need to put down the chambray or peplum top, colored skinnies, and statement necklaces (myself included).  Thanks for reading!

Last night I prepared dinner, got my TV tray out and cozied up on the couch in anticipation of watching the second disc of Dexter. A surprise in the form of "The Usual Suspects" appeared on the screen instead of my beloved Dexter. My husband, unbeknownst to me, switched our Netflix queue! Don't worry folks, I have already filled out the paperwork for an annulment...

All Dressed Up

I scored this dress at Bebe on major discount while shopping on my birthday. I have been dying to wear this dress since then and my friend's bridal shower was the perfect opportunity (if you are following me on Instagram, you already caught a glimpse of the dress and the beautiful bride to be). I love the scalloped hem of the skirt, as well as the mint and silver color combo. I paired the dress with one of my favorite pairs of heels. I was running a tad bit late, so I only got a few quick shots. Thanks for reading.

Floral + 5 Things

I guess I should have looked in the mirror right before we took photos...Nick failed to let me know that my scarf was askew. I am having a hard time not transitioning to full on Spring clothing with the nice warmer weather that we have been having.

Five things I love about my mom's side of the family (I thought it was only right if I even things out)

1. I have an aunt and uncle who have been there for me more than just the traditional sense of the word. Many of my fondest childhood memories occurred at their home, either during overnight stays, dinners, or summer babysitting. They continue to be a strong presence in my life. They are my model for what a marriage should be, how you treat others, and how you support the ones you love.

2. I have an aunt that has always been the "fun" aunt. She is my Disneyland buddy and I wouldn't have it any other way. She always took the time to support me during the volleyball years, traveling to out of state tournaments. She continues to be another guiding light in my life. I know that if I ever have a problem I can ask her for advice. She also makes me really cute aprons!

3. My mom's side of the family is loud, opinionated, and sometimes obnoxious...but those qualities make them that much more endearing. They tell it how it is and it is refreshing to have such honest people in your life.

4. They know how to party! Nobody has ever accused my mom's side of throwing a boring get together. I think we might have one of the wildest Christmas ornament exchanges around.

5. My mom's side is just like my dad's when it comes to the importance of family. I may have family dinner night with my dad's side, but I have Sunday bowling with my mom's! I feel lucky and blessed to have such a huge and loving extended family.

I will continue my "five things" posts this week with five things I love about my husband...without giving TMI :)

 

1. He is very funny and has the best smile and laugh!

2. He works hard and takes pride in everything he does.

3. He takes the time to let me know that he appreciates me.

4. He corrects my spelling, grammar, punctuation, definitions of words, etc., but still says that I am the better writer/smarter because I used to get sixes and he only got fives from the senior English teacher (if you went to high school where we did you get what that means).

5. He is thoughtful and supportive of everything I do, perhaps with the exception of shopping.

This look includes lots of layered neutrals. I have never really tried monochromatic looks, mostly because my favorite is black and I have always felt a bit gothic rocking all black. Not that this is exactly monochromatic :) Would you agree that neutral could be compared to the "grey area?" If you ask my sister she will tell you that I LIVE in the grey area. I don't like choosing sides for things, which she has found obnoxious over the years. I like to believe that I am a flexible thinker or open-minded. Yes, I am aware there are other words with a slightly more negative connotation that would apply. I hope ya'll have a great weekend!
